The Mercy San Juan project consisted of construction of new patient tower (140,000 SF) along with minor demo/remodel & construction of temporary connecting corridor & tunnel between new tower and existing hospital facilities. New patient tower consisted of 7 floors total, including mechanical penthouse. 4 floors dedicated to individual patient rooms, 110 total (90 Med Surg Units, 20 CCU units) and 1 shelled-out floor. Basement level included new in-house pharmacy, storage, engineering shop & mechanical/electrician rooms. New cooling tower yard & emergency generator yard also constructed as part of project. To service emergency generator & mechanical system boilers, a complete Fuel Oil system, including 30,000 gal. underground fuel tank included as part of project. At penthouse level, 2 ea. 74,000 CFM Air Handlers serve dual-duct air delivery system, including 190 dual-duct, constant volume boxes.
Medical-surgical rooms installed complete with CHW requested head-wall units (including Med-air, Med-Vac, & 02). CCU rooms installed complete with Care-ware combination lav/toilet/dialysis fixture cabinets & Hill-Rom overhead service carriers.
Mechanical spaces and mechanical piping system was also constructed and built to include provisions for expansion of HVAC system for additional hospital tower in future.
